Skin care & sun protection are must in all seasons.
If winters make you dry and barren, summers can make your skin even worse. We have temperatures soaring nearly 50 degrees in summers. You witness the blistering heat every summer, especially if you are living in the northern or central part of the country.
People living near the coastal regions are to face it equally with heat getting all the more humid.
Sun poisoning is nothing but a professional and medical term for extreme sun burn. Ultra violet rays beaming from the sun can be extremely harmful.
We understand sun exposure is important, simply because it makes up for Vitamin D levels that our body, especially our skin requires. As it is, 80% of the people globally are deficient in vitamin D so we cannot think of not having it simply because it’s too hot out there.
If it is winters, it’s pleasant to bask out in sun but in summers, the trick is to have ample amount of foods that are rich in vitamin D.
It contains a compound called Calcitriol, which helps in skin protection and repair of skin cells, keeping it protected from extreme heat, dust and change in climate but its important to understand that direct exposure to skin can cause even more damage.
Using hats, umbrellas and covering makeups with SPFs are common but a lot of us aren’t really aware that we can even take care of our skin by keeping ourselves hydrated and having healthy foods. Intake of foods rich in fibre and watery fruits are the best bet in summers.
See this wonderful little infographic on sun poisoning. It beautifully depicts how easily we can take care of our skin. Some might call it inspired from Global Warning, even then it’s worth going through once 🙂
