All About American Automotive Chevrolet El Camino 1959, 1960, 1970 Car

First Generation Of El Camino Was Introduced In 1959. It Is The Weirdest Camino In History, Cause It Is A Pick Up, Certainly

Without a doubt Chevrolet El Camino is one of those cars, that defined American automotive industry. At one point, everyone wanted to have them, they were true American cars that represented quality, good style, and were very durable. To this day, even though they were quite common at some point, they have decent collectable value, and many dream about having classic Chevy El Camino as their car. You for sure can impress many with such purchase.

Chevrolet El Camino 1959

First generation of El Camino was introduced in 1959. It is the weirdest Camino in history, cause it is a pick up, certainly not what you think about when there is a talk about Camino, that’s for sure. Who would have wanted a pick up, stylized so much, it is after all a type of car that should work properly, be sort of a useful tool, not a stylized car. So it failed on both ends: because of its appearance, it wasn’t perceived as useful, and on the other hand, because of the fact, that it was a pick up, it failed as an eye pleaser. Only 50% of manufactured Camino’s were sold, definitely you would have to be a some sort of Nostradamus to guess, that that line of cars, which this car just started, will be one of the most influential in history of America. But that’s the way life goes, it is full of surprises.

For four years Camino was no longer in production, but Chevy still saw potential in this idea. But again, they believed America needs a pick up, that would work well for everyone, would be affordable and durable. This time they decided to make it more simpler idea, no longer great appearance was important to creators – it was completely redesigned, had new grille, new front bumper, new trim. That of course helped quite a bit, made this car more popular, cause it was very useful indeed, many could easily find a job for such car. It was also a strong pick up, despite the fact, that maybe it didn’t looked all that powerful mechanic tool set (read here bestforacar.com/the-best-mechanical-tool-under-200/), under the hood you could find very powerful engines so certainly there was no reason not to believe that it will be able to help even during very demanding jobs. It was in production for four years, which especially back then was quite a feat, as cars nowadays are usually being produced for a longer time, but back then new models were crashing the market every year, industry was developing very fast so it was understandable.

But it was the third generation that established Camino’s position on the market, and that basically lied foundations of a future automotive industry legend. Most importantly, it is no longer a pick up, right now Camino chose a path that will bring it enormous success – it has become a sedan. Quite cheap, but also with nice looks and decent performance, clearly it didn’t took long since the car was the one that everyone wanted  – and for the most part could – have. Importantly, it also had a special Super Sport version, that had just amazing performance thanks to astonishing 375 horsepower engine! And bear in mind, most of sports cars from that decade, even those that are well known today and considered all time classics, didn’t even had 200 hp, so that Camino was a beast. That was also a great move, cause at the same time Camino as a brand itself was making a name out of themselves among speed enthusiasts, as well as on race tracks, and that added a lot to its hype, more and more people got it as their dream car. No wonder this version of Chevy was in production for strong five years, and it didn’t really lost all that much in sales even in last ones.

Fourth generation established Camino position as a classic 70’s car, nowadays one of this decades symbols, that’s for sure. W can safely say, that it developed the idea from third generation, again there were no pick up version, just sedans, as well as super sport one. There were many options to choose from, as you could choose from many possible engines, and other optional versions, so everyone could find something that would suit his needs best. Fifth version was the last one as it turned out, but certainly it wasn’t the last one because of fifth generation of Camino. The fact, that it was being manufactured for ten years, speaks for itself the best, that’s. Interestingly, this time Camino went even more with broadening variety of their offer, as again we see a comeback of pick up version, so most classic one, yet maybe not most anticipated. But as it this time is not the only one available, then it doesn’t affect the market in any other way, than with profits. Of course, it is again available also in classic, quite cheap sedan version, but also super sports for enthusiasts of great performance is just as well possible to get if you only have enough money.

Every generation, even early ones, today have a great collectable value, though for sure most respected one is third with sports version, that was a real beast that was ahead of its time in terms of design and performance.
