Popularly known as Baba Saheb, the Indian jurist, politician, economist and social reformer, who was born in 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh in a poor dalit caste.
He was known for his campaigns against social discrimination against dalits, women and labour.
Dr. Ambedkar, who had inspired the Modern Buddhist Movement, had died in his sleep on 6 December 1956 at his home in Delhi.
Baba Saheb was Independent India’s first Law Minister and the principle architect of the Indian Constitution. During the debates in the Constituent Assembly, Baba Saheb demonstrated his will to reform Indian society by recommending the adoption of a Uniform Civil Code always.
He was the first Indian who pursue a doctorate in economics abroad. At the age of 22, he moved to the United States in 1913 for higher education.
