Surprisingly the Facebook India managing director stepping down from her post has happened immediately after the shutdown of Facebook’s very controversial and known project Free Basics. Yes, just after a day when Free Basics got failed to get started, Kirthiga Reddy the Facebook India Managing Director had stepped down however; Facebook has rejected to have any relation between failure of their Free Basics Programmed and the stepping down of Ms. Reddy.
Facebook officially given statement confirming that the move of Reddy’s stepping down has been a pre-planned one and also that Ms. Reddy was not involved anyways in the Free Basics Programme.
Statement further been read as
”As she had planned for some time, Kirthiga Reddy is moving back to the US to work with the teams in Headquarters.”
Reddy has got time of around 6 to 12 months to exit from her current profuse and join the headquarters. Even Ms. Reddy said following in a post giving a nod that it was something very much planned and expected. She said via the post that,
“When my family relocated to India and we knew that we would move back to the US some day. It’s a bittersweet moment to share that the return time frame is coming up in the next 6-12 months. Our two daughters start high school and middle school this coming year – which serves as a natural transition point to make this move back,”
Please be updated that the Telecom Regulator Authority of India has rejected the Free Basics serviced. Its was violating the principle of net neutrality even when Facebook tried showcasing their services as a programme aiming at providing free basic internet services to all. TRAI has recently warned and restricted all the telephone operators to make sure that they are not charging different internet usage rates based pn the content the page is holding.
