Play is disappearing at home, at school & in communities. It would be great, if we could bring the joy back to children by creating an environment where they come out of their shell & spend more time outdoors with nature. Doing things they love to do, connecting them with nature.
Green buddies is turning that dream into reality by mobilizing communities towards lighter, quicker and cheaper transformation of unused barren lands into learning based theme parks to promote health and well-being among children living in resource constrained settings.
The mechanisms that currently exist for recycling of the tyre waste aren’t being practiced as extensively as they should be. Most of tyres are either being burnt or dumped after use which is highly hazardous practice to the environment and ultimately to the mankind. We at Green buddies, recycle these used tyres in unique and innovative ways to provide”Recycled PlayStations” in an environmental friendly manner.
Albert Einstein once said, ‘Play is the highest form of research’. So, It is difficult to imagine childhood without it. In Country like ours, school days are filled with generalised rote learning, only to be followed by long commutes, demanding home lives, and oftentimes work to support the family. The result: under-stimulated children who haven’t reached their full developmental and creative potential.
On the other hand, industrialised nations – South Korea being one – are working to remedy dire problems like high rates of youth suicide. They cite academic stress and parental pressure to succeed as some of the leading causes. We at Green buddies believe that, free play is the solution.
Life is constantly changing. Our kids need to be able to engage with their environments and play if we want them to be ready for the world with practical, 21st century skills.”
Our open source model uses local and up-cycled material to build the PlayStations. These are one third of the cost of conventional playgrounds. Also, the maintenance is DIY.
